The Beetle Has Landed as VW Ramps Up Hiring in Chattanooga

Volkswagen Group of America is getting off to a fast start as it prepares for its U.S. manufacturing debut in Chattanooga.

VW launched the first wave of hiring at a job fair in Chattanooga in early August. About 100 applicants were invited for interviews as the automaker begins filling 50 purchasing positions assigned to the new production facility. Those applicants were chosen from a pool of about 2,200 resumes filed online with the company.

VW officials note its just the first in a series of recruitment efforts. More than 2,000 people will be hired in Chattanooga. The company plans to store all resumes it receives in a database, and with the assistance of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, draw from these candidates and others throughout its recruitment and selection process.
