Team Approach Draws Businesses to Madison County

If report cards were assigned to industry recruitment efforts, Jackson’s Team Madison County would receive an A+, along with the notation “works well with others.” Working together is what Team Madison County is all about.
Team Madison County members include the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, the city of Jackson, Madison County and the Jackson Energy Authority. The Chamber is the point of contact.
“The track record of Team Madison County speaks for itself,” says Paul Latture, president and CEO of the Chamber. “The concept works. It’s a team approach where all the decision makers come to the table to help make decisions when a prospect is looking into coming to our area. We stack up well against any similar group in Tennessee and, in fact, the southeastern United States.”
Latture says one of the reasons Team Madison County is successful in recruiting industry is the available industrial park space, all with easy access to Interstate 40.
Jackson-Madison County’s seven industrial parks, including the newest, Tiger Jones Technology Park, have sites ranging from 2 to 800 acres for new and expanding industry. Tiger Jones’ first tenant was ARJ Manufacturing, a joint automotive parts venture between Araco of Japan and Johnson Controls Inc. of Milwaukee. UGN Inc. is also building a multimillion-dollar production facility for manufacturing a line of acoustic products for Toyota and Lexus vehicles at Tiger Jones.
“Tiger Jones is a very nice industrial park with full amenities,” says Kyle Spurgeon, vice president of business development for the Jackson Energy Authority. “It’s not just a flat piece of property.”
Team Madison County’s most recent success story is Bodine Aluminum, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Co., which is locating a $124 million plant for manufacturing aluminum engine blocks on a 130-acre parcel at the Airport Industrial Park.
